DCSI Commissions First LEED® NC Platinum-Level Project in Nevada

DCSI has commissioned the first LEED NC Platinum-level project in Nevada: The Desert Living Center at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. The designation, the highest a building can receive from the U.S. Green Building Council, requires that a majority of required building materials be recycled, re-used or recyclable, among other things.

Las Vegas Springs Preserve
PROJECT NAME: LAS VEGAS SPRINGS PRESERVE
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The $250 million Las Vegas Springs Preserve aims to be Nevada's first LEED Platinum project. It will provide space for the Nevada State Museum, Visitor's Center and the Desert Living Center interspersed among restored wetlands. It will include more than 176,000 square feet of museums, educational galleries and interactive exhibits. It will eventually include the 79,000-square-foot Nevada State Museum that is expected to open in 2009.

Unique Aspects of this Project:

It will be the first attraction in the U.S. to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Certification.

It is the largest commercial straw-bale project in the U.S.

Solar panels on site will generate enough solar energy to power approximately 70 percent of the Preserve attraction.

The Preserve is home to more than 250 species of wildlife.

Water on site will be filtered and reused to irrigate plants and flush toilets at the Preserve.

    PROJECT NAME: NOS COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
    PROJECT DESCRIPTION: POWER QUALITY STUDY

SCOPE OF WORK : DCSi will systematically record phase currents, voltages and total KVA for the one specified location for a period of seven days.

Install and record a Power/Demand Analyzer to measure and record the current of each phase in RMS amperes and the total KVA during a period of seven consecutive days, at one location. The possible locations are as follows:

  • Transformer T-1
  • Transformer T-8
  • Transformer T-9
  •

The above locations were selected as these transformers serve the Smart Switch 6000s that are experiencing the problematic switching issues reported.

Coordinate our activities with the client and occupant for the facilities (locations as specified).

Monitor the recording equipment on a daily basis to ensure that it is recording without interruption(s).

DCSi will provide an electrical data recording report with the RMS current and KVA demand versus time for each day of the recording and will include a hard copy of the measurements recorded at each interval in order to verify the loading of the existing circuits indicated above. (Compile all recorded data (as indicated above) and submit to client upon completion.)
